Raffle ticket sales that ran over 3, 4 and 5 July, when Leeds LGBTQ+ Matters of Some Urgency meetings took place, were quite low…

So! We only drew for one prize over all three days – in collaboration with Yorkshire Dance, VIP tickets for three for Apocalypse WOW

The winner was Duncan, current and proud keeper of Blayds Bar, the most people-friendly and inclusive bar in Leeds.

But Duncan had a ticket for his first ever Sparkle Weekend in Manchester …

So he gifted the prize – to Meg at The Chemic Tavern (big supporters of Leeds LGBT+ Forum), who gave it to Jazz – one of her wonderful bar staff and our fave Q joiner, who invited two friends …

Jazz’s review

“Apocalypse WOW! was most definitely an experience for any queer person fledgling, concrete or otherwise. Niche Lorraine hosted a brilliant show which met the standards promised – spirits were definitely lifted and hilarious absurdity ran rife throughout the whole set, which explored three main humanity themes of ‘WERQ’, ‘LUV’ and ‘HAIR’ in a fashion that only an alien queen could convey. Interaction with the audience was superb, with questions and Space Raiders flying every which way … the sky being the only limit.

Arrival at Yorkshire Dance was easy and welcoming, and the staff were open to any inquiry about the evening. We were escorted to a reserved area and provided with champagne and a selection of hors d’oeuvres whilst waiting for the show doors to open.

The staff were more than accommodating when sorting a mix-up with the reserved seating, and made sure that we – and the people at our table, were completely comfortable.

When the show ended, ‘the stage’ welcomed anyone for dancing and revelry, be they human or alien alike”
