3000 Lesbians Go To York tells the extraordinary true story of how a lesbian bookseller (who also happened to be trans) created the largest gathering of LGBTQ+ women in the UK, and how from 1998 to 2008, the quietly conservative city of York became the unlikely centre of all things lesbian!

We and Emily at The Bookish Type are collaborating on a screening of the documentary ‘3,000 Lesbians Go To York’ on 18 August at Hyde Park Picture House.

Jenny Roberts, the woman who initiated the 10 year festival 1998-2008 following opening ‘Libertas!’ – the first independent women’s / lesbian bookshop in UK, in York, is going to be there, and Emily will be a doing Q&A with the author of the book (‘3,000 Lesbians Go To York’).

Film director (Rachel Dax) is also going to be there, and we’re looking to generate interest for a Queer Lit and Art Fest in Leeds.
